After 17 years of selling wine and spirits, Steve Dubois decided it was time for a change. He had noticed a number of consignment shops for clothing and furniture but none that would sell used sporting goods.
"I know lots of guys that have lots of sporting equipment that sits around," Dubois said. "It's expensive stuff. You don't want to sell it at a yard sale."
This month he opened Sport and Tackle Consignment in Hooksett. The store sells everything from fishing gear and archery equipment to croquet sets and moose antlers, and Dubois is applying for permission to sell firearms. Items are sold for 50 to 70 percent of what they would cost new, he said. People consigning gear will get 50 percent of the money paid for an item sold under $20, and 67 percent for items sold for more.
